Yoshikazu Ikeda has officially stepped down from his role as
Chairman of the Sakai Cutlery Guild and has entered a period of rest.
Today, acquiring one of his Honyaki works—
especially a Fuji Honyaki—has become exceptionally rare.
This piece represents the pinnacle of traditional Sakai craftsmanship:

Yoshikazu Ikeda began his apprenticeship in 1967
under his father, Kameo Ikeda, and established
Ikeda Tanrenjo in 1983.
Renowned for Honyaki, Mizu-Honyaki, and Sumigashi techniques,
he is the master craftsman behind the Sakai Hokushin name.
“Since 1967, I have devoted my life to preserving and advancing
the traditions of Sakai cutlery.”
Now retired from frontline production,
each remaining work carries increasing historical and artistic value.
