Ikeda began his apprenticeship under his father Ikeda Kameo in 1967.
In 1983, he established Ikeda Tanrenjo, specializing in:
・Honyaki
・Water-quenched Honyaki
・Sumi-Nagashi (墨流し)
He is regarded as the representative smith behind the “Sakai Hokushin” series.
“Since 1967, I have devoted myself to preserving and advancing the craft of Sakai blades.”
Ikeda is now mostly retired, making each remaining piece significantly more valuable.

・2004 – Awarded by the Kinki Bureau of Economy, Trade & Industry
